Uh Oh, another SEC in trouble due to former assistant coach. Read the link, incredible stuff.

Quote
Oklahoma State assistant Lamont Evans: Evans allegedly accepted $22,000 in bribes to steer athletes at South Carolina and then Oklahoma State to become clients of Dawkins and Sood. He coached at South Carolina for four seasons before leaving in 2016 to join Brad Underwood’s staff at Oklahoma State.

Quote
The South Carolina Gamecocks, aka “University-2:” Evans’ former employer.

It's getting deeper and deeper and the FBI says there is a whole lot more.

Here's another case with huge possibilities from the same link.

Quote
The Miami Hurricanes, aka “University-7:” The school is alleged to have had an assistant coach work with Adidas executive James Gatto to arrange a payment of $150,000 to a potential 2018 recruit. Gatto and the coach were reportedly worried the recruit would take another bribe for approximately just as much from a rival school and rival apparel company.

I don't think that refers to FSU or Florida but maybe another ACC school, like UNC, but it could be FSU since they are in the same state & conference.

Any investigation involving fraud in college basketball that doesn't include Kentucky is in itself fraudulent! Just my opinion.

Excellent observation. With Calapari and Kentucky's past history, I bet they are involved. If the Adidas guy goes for a deal, what he reveals will be incredible. Plus, is Nike involved?

Alabama may be involved. This does not look good.

Quote
Alabama announced an internal review of its basketball program. Athletics director Greg Byrne also announced the resignation of basketball staffer Kobie Baker.

"Our review has not identified any NCAA or SEC rules violations nor the involvement of any other coach or staff member," Byrne said in a news release distributed Wednesday evening. "We have notified both of the governing bodies of the actions we have taken. As always, we will continue to be proactive in our compliance efforts."

I'm not sure yet how concerning this should be. I do think all the gloating about the involvement of other schools was a bit premature; who knows where all of this is going to lead and what other bombshells will be dropped once people starting trying to save their own skin.

I heard this on the radio earlier. The statement from the AD makes no sense. No rules violations but he resigns? This doesn't smell right.

It's prudent for Bama to do this. Lots more to come from the feds. Better to find it first yourself.

These are the programs I expect to take a major hit in this scandal:

Kentucky (Calapari programs have been hit before)
Syracuse (Boeheim has been historically dishonest)
NC State (under constant pressure to beat Duke & UNC)
UNC
UCLA
Tennessee (not sure about this one but Pearl was there before)
UCONN  Men & women?
Baylor
Ole Miss  Not sure about this one.

I hope & pray Bama is not involved in this scandal.

All three major sports apparel companies are probably involved in this. They are Adidas, Nike, & Under Armour.

 Huh?

What he did was illegal and immoral, but was not a rules violation and did not create any sort of recruiting advantage for Alabama.  Basically he took a bribe from a sports agent to introduce the agent to the player's father and help convince the father that the player should sign with said agent when he goes pro.  If that is all it was, then U of A should be in the clear.  But there could be much more to come out of this of course.

The NCAA won't skate on this one. Their ineptness has been exposed and they will be forced to bring down the hammer. Collateral damage will come to UNC and Ole Miss in their unrelated messes, as the NCAA will try to save face, and will make an example of those 2 schools. If they are involved in any of this, Katie bar the door.
