The natives are restless.

Gus is too hard piped into what he wants to do. The announcers tv/radio are all saying what is so obvious. Lack of a big boy passing attack. We don't have the talent to just run over people. Not many teams do.

I would not let my son come to Auburn if he were an outstanding WR or QB. He would just be frustrated for 4 years.

I love my Tigers and will always support them, but Gus needs to let someone else run the offense if he wants to stay at Auburn. Everyone knows what we are going to do, and when. Not hard to figure out...

...in terms of how often we win championships or how many games we win in any particular year. But da#@ if being an Auburn fan doesn't usually feel like being held hostage.

Hard to put into words what I mean by that, but I'm betting most of you know what I mean.

What I don't understand is that I have witnessed some of the best offensive production under Gus that AU has ever seen. The play calling was imaginative and fairly unpredictable--we had a balanced mix of power up the middle, speed around the edges, and smart use of tempo. That all just seems to have stopped in favor of--well, I don't know what. Watching the offense these days is just like banging your head on a rock over and over again expecting it not to hurt. What happened?

Chiz won with Cam in 2010, then had no QB, changed O and didn't have the right personnel to run it. Then he totally lost control of his team. No interference there.
Gus then won with a converted DB at QB in 2013, and hasn't developed a serviceable QB since. No interference there, either. Just incompetence on the part of Gus, not to mention the last two coaching hires by Jacobs.

We hired a scheme, not a head coach. When there were guys who could run around the perpetual pass rush living inside Gus' bizarre blocking philosophy...we looked good. When we could run hurry up and defenses weren't allowed to sub but we were, we looked good. But this isn't the Sunbelt. Defenses adjust. Rules change. At this level, Gus was always going to have to make the transition from a scheme to a head coach and he isn't doing it.

He is recruiting well, but how long is to offensive talent going to want to play in this offense? I agree that poor decisions are happening at the top, but it starts with the ongoing thought process that there is some scheme or shortcut to success in this league. You have to be prepared, we too often aren't. You have to get the most from the talent available, we very much don't. You have to be fundamentally sound and our OL has been reliably inconsistent. What we have is a formula for 7 or 8 wins and that's what we'll continue to get unless real changes are made.

These folks are saying what I've thought for a few seasons: Gus only knows one way to run his O, and when his trick plays and deception don't work, he has no Plan B.  We've seen this over and over in Barn losses.

Still think Stidham will develop into a better QB.  But I was surprised at how slow he looked running last night.

Good point. Certain programs will probably be desperate for a proven head coach after the season. They include:

Auburn
Texas A&M
Tennessee
Florida
Notre Dame


Most likely candidates are Auburn & Texas A&M. Auburn might not touch Petrino, but A&M is truly desperate.

This is the third time in the last six games that Auburn has produced fewer than 200 total yards. This is the seventh time in the last 15 games that Auburn has produced fewer than 20 points.

Since the start of the 2016 season, Auburn has lost games in which Kevin Steele's defense has held opponents to 19, 13 and 14 points.

Malzahn buyout after this year is roughly $6.7 mil. Chiznik got $7.5 mil when he was fired. This is an athletic program that loves to pay out money to coaches.

In this year's opener, Clemson beat Kent State 56-3. The Golden Flashes had 120 yards of offense - or 3 more than Auburn did in Death Valley.

Kent State QB knew how to get rid of the ball and was not sacked. Heisman contender Stidham was sacked 11 times.
