There, hat in hand, is Texas. The big and bold Longhorns—the strongest brand in college football today—are scouring for crumbs with the ACC.

They started this mess last year, you know. Got together with ESPN and the combination of two mammoth egos could only mean one thing: a gigantic mess.

“It’s unthinkable how the tables have turned,” said one BCS athletic director.

Texas will have you believe that it didn’t blow up the Big 12, and that the perpetually average ACC is just as good as the Big 12—which is merely second only to the SEC in on-field performance since its inaugural season in 1996.

They need to ask Miami and FSU how that worked out for them.

How about Texas Tech to the Sunbelt? Now that would be funny as hell right there.

Sure, but to the ACC?  WOW!  I did not see that coming.

I guess they can replace the ACC team that goes to the SEC.  Smiley

Football can pay for itself at a BCS school. But the travel expense for baseball, volleyball, tennis, etc. is going to be very expensive, not to mention a lot of school time missed.

There was an article about this not too long back, only like 5 athletic programs in the country make money.  We were one of them.

I would think Bama would be near or at the top. Did the article say?

I think the number was something like 16 programs make money. Alabama and Georgia were on the list. Also, I don't see the ACC taking the Texas Ego but Conference USA might be interested in them.

The Big 12 imploding is due to several factors, but the main factor is Texas greed in setting the agreement that drove A&M away and is driving OK and OK ST away. UT has nobody to blame but themselves.

A decent conference is not going to want to put up with their nonsense.  They will have to go independent most likely.  If a conference wants to get into the Texas TV market, there are several schools besides them.

Exactly.  It appears that justice will be served here too.  If they go independent, they will be just as irrelevant as Notre Dame in 20 years.  They already have a good start in that direction.

But the question is:  How much credit does CNS get for totally obliterating their program?  It all started in Pasadena...  They may never even sniff another BCS NCG again.

As far as Texas TV market UT is # 1 and A&M is # 2. Everyone else is far behind those two.

Here's my prediction for new conferences and restructuring:

OK & OK St. go to the PAC 14
Tex. A&M of course to the SEC
TT goes to the Sunbelt
Texas to the ACC or MD might be right and they go to Conf. USA

"The Big 12 Rejection Conf."
Mizzou
Ok. St.
Iowa St.
Kansas
Kansas St.

Winner goes to the Meineke "Who cares" bowl.

The Big 2
Baylor
SMU

The winner, and I use that term loosely, will play ND in the Godaddy.com "Protestant vs Catholic" bowl

More to come, stay tuned.
