Ed Orgeron is ignoring the "interim" tag in his new title and feeling confident that he has what it takes to make the job permanent, according to a report.

“Listen, this thing here, I’m going to get it,” Orgeron told ESPN Sunday morning, hours after LSU’s blowout 42-7 win over Missouri. “If we do what we need to do, I feel in my heart I’m going to get it. If I don’t, it’s because we didn’t do well enough and I don’t deserve it.”

“If they beat Alabama (on Nov. 5), they might sign him to a new contract before midnight,” the source told ESPN.

The 55-year-old Louisiana native appears to be doing the opposite of Miles. He’s opening practice, at least certain periods, to reporters and shortening practice times so players are fresher for games. Monday’s walk-thru, for instance, was open to reporters and lasted one-third the time (30 minutes) than a normal Monday walk-thru lasted with Miles as coach.

Orgeron is preaching offensive change, indicating the Tigers will spread the ball around in an effort to combat a problem here over the last two years: defenses loading the box to stop running back Leonard Fournette. Steve Ensminger took over for Cameron as LSU’s offensive coordinator, and Steve Kragthorpe is assisting the offense.

Can someone tell me how these "changes" will improve their offense. They beat a poor Missouri team and now Orgeron is the next Saban? Sheesh!

Well does Coach ED know that you have to have 3 phases of a game to win in the big boy league? Offense is good but if you don't flip field position and hold people to 3 and out you won't win with the big boys. A ll a his last 2 jobs at HC. RTR!

They still have to play Florida, S. Miss., & Ole Miss before us. After Bama they play Arkansas & A&M. Not looking good for Ed.

My thought here here OM is going to whack them good. Now Fla. might be close according to the way the offense plays against the lsu defense. The res really don't matter but I don't think he gets the job cause of good coaches out there that will not mention leaving till the season is over. RTR!
