"Boise State gets three years' probation" Wow, that's it?

The Boise State football program will be docked nine scholarships over a three-year period, and the athletic department must serve three years' probation as a result of widespread rules violations, the NCAA announced Tuesday.

Boise State had already self-imposed the probationary period in the wake of violations involving more than 75 prospects and student-athletes across five different sports. The NCAA added six scholarship reductions in football to the three the school had already taken away and cited the school for "lack of institutional control."

Boise State will now have its football scholarships reduced from 85 to 82 for the 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14 academic years.

That's all??  These violations would land an SEC school in deep dung.

They are getting off easy. They can still have 82 on scholarship each year so they will never be more than 3 scholarships down.

This is very frustrating to watch the NCAA treat these offenders with such ginger care after watching Bama almost lose their program. I see a lot of partiality with the severity of the penalties being handed down now compared to what Bama received, especially with the text book issue.

That's all??  These violations would land an SEC school in deep dung.   

This is unbelievable! If this was Miss. State, Georgia, Alabama, or Auburn, they would all be toast and looking at at least 21 scholarships being taken. These NCAA guys are spinning in circles out-of-control.

They're first time offenders as far as I know.  This isn't that surprising.  They'd better keep their noses clean though cause next time will be worse if they fall under the repeat violator status.
