According to a report from DawgNation.com, Smith was “ostracized” by his superiors and teammates after he informed the team of his decision to leave. Smith wrote to Alabama’s appeal committee on July 1, which was provided to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Wednesday by Smith’s mother, Samyra:

“On Friday, June 17, I arrived at the athletic facility locker room to find my locker cleaned out and all of my personal belongings in the trash (photo attached) underneath trash,” Smith wrote. “These personal items included my family photos, written goals, inspirational and sentimental items memorializing my deceased former friend, roommate and teammate, Altee Tenpenny, and items of personal value from my former teammates.”

If someone trashed his locker, that was wrong. Nothing else seems out of the ordinary though. I think it's rather common to refuse to let players transfer to a conference rival. He announced his plans to leave the team; I'm not sure why he's so upset that he can't be part of the team anymore.

i used to read the paper daily in the 1970's and into the 1980's when I was a soldier at Ft. Benning, Georgia. Somehow I missed this wide-ranging conspiracy carried on by the paper. Bisher was an idiot who was exposed by the Coach Bryant lawsuit but I guess we can blame the hundreds of employees who have worked there for the past 50 years. You need to look in the mirror when talking about ignorance. I just wish I was as intelligent and enlightened as you & Chechem. Sorry to see your bias against anyone who dares to challenge your views on such trivial matters. You're a good poster but you and others have a gigantic blindspot when it comes to Tide football. Life is great, football is a game, and don't sweat the small stuff, just enjoy the game and the ride.
