More proof of the IQ level of the Braves front office.

Quote
[The Braves have tried to trade Hector Olivera since the outfielder’s arrest earlier this month on a charge of misdemeanor assault and battery, Yahoo Sports’ Jeff Passan reports.  Olivera is currently on paid administrative leave while Major League Baseball investigates the alleged incident under the league’s domestic violence policy, and a suspension is widely believed to be in his future.
Quote

Quote
Olivera has only 108 MLB plate appearances to his name and he’s produced just a .245/.296/.378 slash line.  Furthermore, Olivera is owed roughly $3.4MM remaining this season and $28.5MM from 2017-2020.  While a suspension under the domestic violence policy would erase any salary commitments owed under that timeframe of games, the Braves or any other team would still likely owe a significant chunk of money to a player with big question marks both on and off the field.

Just what the Red Sox needed. The Braves for three games. Sox win first game 1-0.

Where's John Schuerholz, Bobby Cox and Leo Mazzone when you need them.  Sad

Regarding the Braves front office...

I don't follow the Braves closely enough to know all the moves they've made or understand their long term strategy.  I will say, though, that long term strategy isn't always so easy for fanbases to see...or even other folks in the business.  For example, it's been less than 5 years since the Houston Astros were awful.  Their fans were in an uproar, and other teams were even appealing to the commissioner's office trying to block some of their trades because they said the Astros were not even trying to be competitive.  Last year they made the playoffs, won the Wild Card game, and took the eventual World Series champions to the final game in the Division Series.  Oh, and they had the second smallest payroll in MLB.

So maybe there's hope.  Today's reality is, that smaller market teams without the unlimited resources of the Yanks, Dodgers, etc, are going to have to go through periods where they just aren't every competitive and build for the future.  Players just cost too much.

Right now if there was 2 teams in the MLB playoffs I'd have to pick the other team to win against the braves. It's been this way ever since Bobby Cox left. He wasn't that great in the end but they was competitive. RTR!

Braves bats warmed up as they score 4 runs on Red Sox. Braves pitching holds Boston to 11 runs & 1 hr, 1 triple, & 7 doubles.

Houston is the 4th largest city in America. It has a metro population of 6,600,000 folks, not my idea of a small market. The owner is a tightwad. Once their players contracts expire, they will dumped so they can start over again. Boston has 3rd highest team payroll & 10th largest metro pop. at 4,700,000. Like I said, Astros are huge tightwads.

It is time to change the title. The Braves are on an 8 game losing streak. They are 4-17 and 10.5 games back. They are 5.5 games from getting out of last place.  Banging your head against the wall.

It's obvious you don't have the deep strategic mind & genius Jim Hart has. This is all part of THE PLAN to have the Braves on Top in 2017 when they move into their new stadium. No doubt most of our prospects will blossom into stars to lead the charge.

Your right about one thing, I don't have the knowledge of Jim Hart.  , Thank God I don't. I would live in a worse house than I am in now.  Shocked Shocked, RTR!

Regardless of the size of the city, the Astros don't have the revenue or following of the Red Sox.  Their fan base could very well be smaller than the Braves'.   Regardless, they're working in the same arena as the Braves as far as allowable payroll...that was the point.
