It took 10 innings, but the Braves won (7-6) again today at Miami.  Woot.

Now at least they're 3-9.   :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

Marlins 3-7 on the year. It will be a tight race between Braves & Marlins for worst team, but the Braves have geniuses at the GM & President level of the team.

After getting thrashed 8-1 in the opener and needing an extra inning to win the other two, I'd definitely say that the Braves gave the Dodgers all they wanted.

Braves continue their torrid ways & are 4-13, 1-9 at home. If you have kids or grandkids the circus will be in town in Atlanta all summer at Turner Field. You may even get to see Jim Hart the circus clown if you're lucky.

The Braves are running wild & rolling over opposition under the keen guidance of the genius Jim Hart. In just 3 years removed from winning 96 games & being a major World Series contender, he has turned the Braves in to a lean, mean, kitty cat. They have the worst record in baseball & should be eliminated from playoff contention by the end of May. This will take pressure off the team so they can spend more time on developing prospects. Also, with the expected plunge in attendance Jim Hart can continue his magic with the Braves since no one will be watching or will care. Don't worry though, in 2017 the Braves will come roaring back & might be only the 2nd worst team in MLB instead of the worst.

More proof of the IQ level of the Braves front office.

Quote
[The Braves have tried to trade Hector Olivera since the outfielder’s arrest earlier this month on a charge of misdemeanor assault and battery, Yahoo Sports’ Jeff Passan reports.  Olivera is currently on paid administrative leave while Major League Baseball investigates the alleged incident under the league’s domestic violence policy, and a suspension is widely believed to be in his future.
Quote

Quote
Olivera has only 108 MLB plate appearances to his name and he’s produced just a .245/.296/.378 slash line.  Furthermore, Olivera is owed roughly $3.4MM remaining this season and $28.5MM from 2017-2020.  While a suspension under the domestic violence policy would erase any salary commitments owed under that timeframe of games, the Braves or any other team would still likely owe a significant chunk of money to a player with big question marks both on and off the field.

Regarding the Braves front office...

I don't follow the Braves closely enough to know all the moves they've made or understand their long term strategy.  I will say, though, that long term strategy isn't always so easy for fanbases to see...or even other folks in the business.  For example, it's been less than 5 years since the Houston Astros were awful.  Their fans were in an uproar, and other teams were even appealing to the commissioner's office trying to block some of their trades because they said the Astros were not even trying to be competitive.  Last year they made the playoffs, won the Wild Card game, and took the eventual World Series champions to the final game in the Division Series.  Oh, and they had the second smallest payroll in MLB.

So maybe there's hope.  Today's reality is, that smaller market teams without the unlimited resources of the Yanks, Dodgers, etc, are going to have to go through periods where they just aren't every competitive and build for the future.  Players just cost too much.

Right now if there was 2 teams in the MLB playoffs I'd have to pick the other team to win against the braves. It's been this way ever since Bobby Cox left. He wasn't that great in the end but they was competitive. RTR!

Houston is the 4th largest city in America. It has a metro population of 6,600,000 folks, not my idea of a small market. The owner is a tightwad. Once their players contracts expire, they will dumped so they can start over again. Boston has 3rd highest team payroll & 10th largest metro pop. at 4,700,000. Like I said, Astros are huge tightwads.

It's obvious you don't have the deep strategic mind & genius Jim Hart has. This is all part of THE PLAN to have the Braves on Top in 2017 when they move into their new stadium. No doubt most of our prospects will blossom into stars to lead the charge.

Regardless of the size of the city, the Astros don't have the revenue or following of the Red Sox.  Their fan base could very well be smaller than the Braves'.   Regardless, they're working in the same arena as the Braves as far as allowable payroll...that was the point.

The Braves have the worst record in the Majors, by far, 7-24, a whopping .226 winning percentage. In a 162 games that equates to 36 wins, that's right 36! So 126 losses & 36 wins. The next worse team is 14-20, the Padres. Braves are 1-16 at HOME. If they do lose 126 games, it will be the worst record of the modern era of MLB. This is not about rebuilding, it's about saving money. I hope to see 5,000 fans are less at each Braves home game to send a message.

The Braves traded starting pitcher Jhoulys Chacin to the Los Angeles Angels for 6-foot-8 left-hander Adam McCreery, a low-level relief prospect who’s 23 and hasn’t pitched above the rookie-league level.

The Braves are off to a horrific start, but don’t fret for their owners, Liberty Media, the Colorado-based behemoth that acquired the team a decade ago to avoid paying taxes. Liberty sees the team merely as a backdrop for a massive live-work-play real estate project near Smyrna, an operation largely funded by the good folks of Cobb County.

Do you believe truly that the owners may actually want this team as a tax write off? They don't seem to have an interest in winning really. The people they have in most of the offices from what I am seeing are not trying to put the right people in place to win. RTR!

Whenever a company owns a baseball team it spells disaster because the company wants to make money, not win. The Cubs were owned by the Wrigley family (Wrigley's gum) and they were a joke for DECADES. Wrigley sells the team in 2009 and now they are winning. CBS (yes, that CBS TV company) owned the NY Yankees from 1965 (Yanks played in World Series in 1964) & immediately went into the crapper. Cost cutting was in, spending was out. George Steinbrenner bought the Yanks in 1973 after 9 miserable years under CBS. Steinbrenner spent money to upgrade the minors and get better players. Yanks go to World Series in 1976, 1977, & 1978 winning it in '77 & '78.

Now, the Braves are owned by a company, need I say more? Owning a sports franchise is expensive & usually lose money. Ted Turner lost millions with the Braves but he said he had plenty of money & so what.

Off to one of the worst starts in their history, the Atlanta Braves have fired manager Fredi Gonzalez, a source tells ESPN's Jerry Crasnick.

The Braves dropped to 9-28 after an 8-5 defeat to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday night. The Braves haven't won consecutive games over a 5-19 span during which they've averaged 2.7 runs and hit eight home runs, a quarter of which came Monday. Four MLB players have more homers this season than the Braves team.

Brian Snitker, manager of Atlanta's Triple-A Gwinnett farm club, will replaced Gonzalez as Braves' interim manager through the end of the season, the source confirmed to ESPN.com.

Well this season is over for the Braves I wonder if the players are doing a horrible job if they get paid? They shouldn't, I didn't get paid when I had my company and I did a bad job. RTR!
