Baseball Friday loses to No. 21 Houston 3-1, then 3-2 Saturday; WINS 7-6 Sun.

Alabama managed to stay in the game until the 9th innings when Houston scored 2 runs to take a 3-1 lead. Houston only had 1 more hit than Bama but they had runners in scoring position all game but Bama kept getting out of self inflected jambs. Bama pitching walked 6 and hit 1 batter. We also made 1 error. Houston left 12 runners on base to our 3.

Game 2 is at 2:00 this afternoon with Jake Walters expected to take the mound for the Tide.

In a matchup that featured strong pitching, Alabama baseball fell, 3-1, to No. 21 Houston on a wet Friday evening at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The Cougars collected a pair of runs in the top of the ninth to steal the victory in the series opener.

Houston is ranked #21 for a reason. They are very good as they are most years. The difference in the game was Bama had 3 errors allowing one unearned run. That run turned out to be the game winner. We have lost 4 games. Two of the losses were by 1 run and one was by 2 runs. Those 3 games were against ranked teams. Do not give up on the team because of one series. We have a lot of young guys in the line up who will get better as the year progresses. We are solid on the mound.

Fair weather fans and football only fans are not real fans.
