Sophomore right-hander Jake Walters struck out a career-high 13 batters to help lead Alabama baseball past North Dakota, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The Crimson Tide secured its second series win of the season with the victory and improved to 5-1 overall.

Their pitching has been very impressive so far and that's what they will need to be competitive in the SEC. The SEC should be right there again in the CWS this year.

I like what Keith Holcombe, a local player and football player, has done so far this year. He might be just what CMG needs to get the fans in the stands.

Good points, Jamos.
Glad the pitching is strong so far.  Every team needs 3 quality pitchers to win in the SEC.  It'd be great to have a team that competes again.  College baseball is a great spectator sport.

You need more than 3 quality pitchers by friend. You need three quality starters for for the weekend. Someone has to start those mid-week games. You also need a deep bull pen. SEC are chopping at the bit to knock the starter out in the 5-6-7 inning to get to the bull pen. Bama has a deep staff. I stated in a post recently that pitching is the strength of the team. If we can get some offensive production we might be pretty good.

Keith Holcomb has been a spark so far. He started in LF yesterday and went 1 for 3 with a walk and a run scored. He got the walk off RBI on Friday night. He is 4 for 9 on the year with 3 runs scored. He will miss a lot of baseball action soon. He is on a football scholarship and football comes first. He is allowed to play baseball as long as it does not interfere with spring football.

Thanks.  I meant '3 quality starters'.

You're right about everything else (except spelling).
