The idiots at FSU and the police department buried the evidence and delayed, so the only avenue was for a lawsuit like this.

The delay was the basis of this lawsuit, more or less. 

She still has a lawsuit pending against Winston personally (along with his counterclaim), and the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) is investigating FSU's role as well.

The news said that the woman received 250K and her lawyers got 500k?  Not sure how to interpret that.
