So we lose the guy taking care of business in the AD's office and are now stuck with Mal again. Great.

That certainly is the popular rumor, that Hart takes care of the day-to-day decision making and Mal has stayed out mostly as a fundraiser and the "face of the program" (though that's really probably Saban).

Its not a rumor. This article calls him the chief operating officer for UA athletics.

I'm not so sure he will go. Mal is 71 years old. Hart went to school at Bama and has ties to the area. The Tenn program is in bad shape. They have new coaches in the 3 main men's programs and the jury is still out if any of them will last. Unless he is unhappy I think we have a good chance of him staying.

Hart made $342k last year.  Considering Mal is making $425k, I'm guessing Hart already makes more than the average AD.

Hart is no spring chicken. He's 61 or 62, and he sees that Bryant, Jr. is going to keep Mal around unitl he's older than Paterno. Tennessee will definitely be able to pay him $400 K or more to get him. If not for Hart and Saban, I hate to think what the AD area would look like with Mal running everything. I think Hart got Coach Grant for the BB program and the baseball coach, too.

Bama will have to give him a raise to keep him. I don't see that being a problem. He is either happy where he is or ready for a new challenge.

TUSCALOOSA | The University of Alabama confirmed Thursday that Executive Athletics Director Dave Hart has had discussions with the University of Tennessee about its vacant athletic director position.

"Mr. Hart has had conversations with officials at the University of Tennessee. However, no decisions have been made, and no time frame exists for making a decision," UA said in a statement.

Alabama executive AD Dave Hart Jr. has talked to Tennessee about AD position

USCALOOSA, Alabama - Dave Hart Jr. has talked to Tennessee about becoming the school's athletics director, but this is all that Alabama's executive director of athletics wants to acknowledge for now.

A two-sentence statement has been released by Alabama.

"Mr. Hart has had conversations with officials at the University of Tennessee. However, no decisions have been made, and no timeframe exists for making a decision."

Hart, a 1971 Alabama graduate, has served in the No. 2 position of Alabama's athletic department since August 2008. Since February 2009, he has been recognized as the chief operating officer. As the top assistant to athletics director Mal Moore, Hart has managed the department's day-to-day operations.

Give this man what he needs to be satisfied..He's got crimson blood..how the heck could he defect to the hated orange nation?  We desperately need this guy..or one of equal aptitude and performance. Too much to lose at this point. CNS can't do it all.
