"I think in some circles the perception is there's definitely a guy and we're keeping it to ourselves," left tackle Barrett Jones said. "...I honestly have no idea which one will step up."

Curious comment by Barrett.  Seems like he almost tried to take it back with the second sentence; however, from his first it appears one guy is out in front at this point.

I would be surprised if McCarron doesn't get the nod, not saying he's the best of the two but he has the most live game experience. In what I've seen of the two, McCarron is the better with the long passes but Sims does better moving around in the pocket when pressured and making some positive yardage. The mental mistakes will separate the two and it may take a two or three games to see what happens there.

Jamos. In the last scrimmage did both of them play against the 1st string defense? Did the defense get pressure and force many errors? Ints.

I think the situation is exactly as Saban describes it -- Bama has two quality QBs who are pretty even, and Saban wants to see who does a better job moving the offense and making correct decisions in a game environment.

I think it would have been easy for the coaches to name AJ the starter if he was ahead of Sims. The fact they are keeping the job open leads me to believe Sims is even or possibly better than AJ. AJ has plenty of talent and may make us a great QB but I am concerned about his decisions and mistakes. I think Sims may end up winning the job because of steady play and good decisions. I hope they both do good. I think we can win and win big with either of them.

Yes they did and the pressure was there with some sacks. Sims seems to handle the pressure better but that was practice and not a real game.

That is the one thing I have noticed about Sims -- he seems a cool cucumber under pressure and moves better in the pocket.

Curious comment by Barrett.  Seems like he almost tried to take it back with the second sentence; however, from his first it appears one guy is out in front at this point.

I selected that paragraph because it was odd.  Reading between the lines, it appears the players know who is the starter, but don't want to get into anything controversial.

We'll know soon enough.  Probably next week we'll have a dozen threads running concurrently about the QB situation.

Controversy can be a team killer, this is why CNS put a lid on everything.

True, but it's inevitable.  Remember TS last year?  CONSTANT calls for "AJ, the savior".

Yes I remember. That's the nature of the game. QB gets too much credit when they win and too much blame when they lose. Big time college football equals big time pressure for those young players. I don't boo amature athletics.

So what happens when Sims is the first QB out on the field for Bama?
Saban said just because one goes out there first doesnt realy mean anything.

But if it is Sims the fan base will declare him the leader.

It could be Blake Sims in the wildcat..lol

This is the type of appropriate teamwork I want to see. This keeps everybody from really bearing down on run person, I hope we don't find out till the first play. One thing I have learned in life is if you are really quiet about something it drives other people crazy, i.e. CNS. rofl, RTR!
