SEC teams are 7-0 in B.C.S. title games, giving the league more championships in the system’s 13-year existence than the rest of college football combined.

 “I kind of feel like we’re the national league of college football,” Alabama Coach Nick Saban said.

In recent years, the SEC championship has served as a Monopoly-style route to the national title game. Pass the other B.C.S. hopefuls; collect millions of dollars.


The SEC will distribute a record $220 million to its member universities this year, up from $73.2 million in 2000. And the majority comes from football.

The conference will equally divide $113 million from football television revenue, $31.3 million from bowl games and $15.3 million from the SEC championship game.

The money football brings in provides the resources for all our sports. That is why A&M wants in. If the SEC lets a team in you can bet they will contribute to the bottom line. I think that is why VT looks appealing. The VA TV would be huge.

This is a great stat.  What is more impressive to me is the ability of the SEC teams to make it thru the SEC scheudule and still compete for NC's.
