I wonder if they did this voluntarily or after a sharp elbow in the ribs?

Well it is about time. I still the refs at the Vandy game should step down. I fogive but they don't need to punish other players. RTR!

Higgins is a bad ref, I don't care who is playing. He is truly a "game changer".

Quote
"One bad call doesn't knock a guy out of the NCAA tournament," Adams said.

While normally I would agree, this blown call was in a conference tournament that possibly changed the outcome of the entire tourney. Chances are Rutgers would have never made it to the end, but who knows? A blown call that costs a team at least a chance at an NCAA bid deserves more scrutiny than the 10th or 11th game of the regular season.

Rutgers got the shaft.  But it was on the pass, where the passer got hacked across his forearms.  Clear foul, and there was 10 secs. left.

The final 1.7 seconds is no different than Cody pulling his helmet in the UTe win.  The game was over in both.

This is so sad. They ruin some kids game time then they step away. I can't say they impress me at all, after they help a team to win over another team. RTR!

I watched the end of that game.  The announcers were talking about the refs "not keeping up with the fast breaks."  When I looked to see what they meant by that I saw that 2 of the refs were seniors (ahem).  Indeed, they were exhausted at game's end, and the announcers mentioned that they'd worked 5 games in a week (I think that was the number).  No wonder!

This from the article in the OP:
"Burr has worked 16 Final Fours, the first in 1985, the last in 2006, and has done seven national championship games. Higgins has worked 10 Final Fours, the first in 1988, the last in 2004, and has done four national championship games."

Yeah. These guys have worked their way up the ladder from, maybe, biddy league to junior high, to high school and so forth. To judge a ref on one series rather than the body of work is inexcusable behavior on the part of the Big East. That assumes that they were pressured by the league to step aside for the remainer of the tourney. Some folks see a bad call. I see an opportunity to blast the Big East.
