20+ schools have offered scholarships.

Quote
Alabama and Georgia Tech are the frontrunners for Henry County defensive end Dalvin Tomlinson, who is a candidate to be Georgia’s No. 1 overall college football prospect for 2012.

The 6-foot-3, 255-pounder is an AJC Super 11 selection and has around 20+ early scholarship offers, with Florida, Clemson and Indiana filling out the rest of his top five. Tomlinson, who is a two-time state champion in wrestling, has a 3.8 GPA.

Tomlinson made a recruiting trip to Alabama on Saturday and nearly committed.

During this past weekend’s visit, Tomlinson got to spend some time with Alabama coach Nick Saban. “Coach Saban was telling me how I would impact the program if I come there,” Tomlinson said. “He was telling me how academics were way more important than sports.”

Alabama was one of the first schools to appear on Tomlinson’s recruiting radar. “They came by to look at another player when Dalvin was a sophomore and they really liked him,” Rozier said. “They loved him at camp last summer. When Coach Saban started looking at film and everything, he said ‘Dalvin is the guy we want. He’s our No. 1 guy.’”

LOL.

Truly Alabama is the best setting for Dalvin if he is serious about his NFL career.  I wish him the best, and look forward to watching him in a Crimson jersey.

I like that 3.8.  A dominant physical player with that kind of intelligence is hard to beat.  Everyone understands the physical aspect of the game, it is obvious.  But there is also a chess match going on just underneath the surface.

Yep, when I saw GT was after him I knew that he would have no issues qualifying.

For real.  By considering GT, the kid has more on his mind than being the next great NFL player (not that there's anything wrong with it...)
