That is sad.  I have an uncle down in south Alabama/north Florida who was a close friend of his years ago... RIP Snake!

It is unconfirmed and they pulled the article.  I just saw it at T-news and now it is gone.

I just saw that, SC.

It's amazing that two supposedly respectable news outlets would report something like that without making 100% sure that it was true.

A Mobile TV station is now confirming the report of The Snake's Death.  His ex-wife confirmed his death, and a representative from Stabler's former foundation said that he had battled prostate cancer.

Here is the link to the family's statement:

He passed away Wednesday night from colon cancer, not prostate cancer, as the Mobile TV station had reported.  Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama" was one of the songs playing in the background.

This is a sad day for the Bama nation.

Wow, just got home and saw this. Very sad day for the Bama faithful. The first Bama football game I ever went to was the 1967 Ole Miss - Alabama game, with the Snake at QB. I have a hat that was autographed by him.  Sad

Prayers to the family.  Pray
