The Associated Press had the Crimson Tide No. 4 after Monday night's title game. Ohio State topped the poll after a convincing 42-20 whipping of No. 2 Oregon.

Lazy, late night voting by the press.  Not sure Oregon deserves no. 2 after whipping by OSU.  Bama played much better game.

I'd put TCU at No. 2 as consolation prize, Bama 3 and Oregon 4.

If you ain't #1 then everyone else is #2 and don't matter... #4 seems fair enough for me...

That's a Bama perspective.   Laughing

Of course as a Bama fan, after winning three national championships, it hardly matters between 2 and 4.  That's why I'd be willing to put TCU as No. 2, as the best team that didn't get an invite.

The champion is decided on the field, everything else is just opinion.

My opinion is that Oregon is overrated every year.  They're flashy, but never seem to be able to play real football.  And by that I mean line of scrimmage, between the trenches, smash mouth football.  OSU showed that last night, LSU trounced them in 2011, heck they couldn't even score against Auburn's defense.

So my opinion is that they don't deserve No. 2, as the best ranking they may ever get, but my opinion hardly matters.

Gosh, we win 12 games, beat Auburn, win the SEC, & lose to Ohio State by 7 points due to turnovers & it's a "down year?" Wow. I feel bad for Coach Saban if everyone thinks that. All he has to do is win the National Championship EVERY SINGLE YEAR, then he won't have a "down" year.

Agreed. The Tide was much better against OSU than Oregon.

I do not consider this a down year. We lost a fluke game to Ole Miss but finished the regular season 11-1, SEC West Champs and ranked # 1. We go to the SEC Championship Game and steam roll Missouri to win the SEC. We get selected the number one seed in the first four team CFP. We ran into a buzz saw in Ohio State. They were playing very well at the end of the season. There is no shame in losing a very good team when we did not play our best.

I enjoyed this season and watching this team play very much. It was a great year and I can not wait until next year to start our run to the playoff again.

TCU dodged a bullet getting to play Ole Miss instead of getting Ohio State in the first or second round of the playoff. Do I feel sorry for TCU missing the playoff? Not one bit! Ohio State and the other three teams deserved to be there.

Getting away from Bama talk for a moment, does it seem to anyone else that the barn is ranked awfully high for a team that finished 8-5?

I give them credit. They milked the Kansas State win and that freak Ole Miss fumble on the goal line for all they could. They did not have any other good wins.
