Such a broad-scale award (Best Defensive Player) that it'd have been tough for Collins to win without lots of glitter: dozen interceptions, punt returns, clever name, etc.  Collins has been a star for us for 3 years, and prolly the best safety during the Saban era, but lacks the interception numbers of some.  He'll be missed!

Mama will get new panties, thanks to his decision! 
Also seems like only yesterday when Vern (was it him?) announced that he was a junior and likely to turn pro.  Landon was a freshman or sophomore then!

Donning a tuxedo, Nick Saban spent a good portion of his keynote speech making the crowd at the Bronko Nagurski Trophy presentation laugh as he shared old stories. One of the stories was about how the Alabama coach met his wife of more than 42 years.

I don't get why a safety would be eligible for this award. Nagurski was a linebacker/defensive lineman plus a fullback for good measure.
