Sources have confirmed that Will Muschamp will be South Carolina's new Defensive Coordinator. Sealing the deal is the opportunity to be South Carolina's Head Coach when Spurrier retires. Muschamp plans to bring several of his defensive coaches from Florida.

Muschamp's estimated salary will be $1.6 - $1.9 million.

Muschamp chose SC over Auburn.

Well I do believe that USCe defense just got better. Like him or not CWM is a Saban protege and is a big time defense man. RTR!

I've been hearing that rumor and looking for confirmation.  Great for Muschamp if it is true.  When Spurrier retires he will be in line to take over the HC job.

Good hire for USCe, however, the head coach in waiting deal isn't what it's cracked up to be, IMO.

"We fly together to Bristol (Connecticut for the ESPN coaches tour) every summer, and enjoy his company and the stories and the different things going through the years and talking about the Florida program and all that. It's just a lot of fun, it really is. He's been very supportive of me since I've been here, gone out of his way to support me, and I really appreciate that."

Spurrier says he has not hired Muschamp.
