I have been listening to it on the radio, but to be honest I hate listening to basketball on the radio.  I have no idea how well we are playing, but at least we are winning.  That is more than I can say for Auburn, who is currently losing 24-21 on ESPNU.  Laughing

I grew up listening to Alabama football & basketball on the radio since they were on tv like 3 times a year and I enjoy it. You youngsters are spoiled.

I just looked at the schedule.  We will only have 4 games that are NOT on TV this year:

1)  Tonight
2)  12/13/14
3)  12/19/14
4)  1/2/15

Great news about the tv schedule. I think Tide BB MIGHT have been on tv 6 or 7 times a year in the early 70's with Joe Dean on SEC games. Great stuff & memories.

We must have stepped up big time on the rebounds.  The last I heard they were beating us on the boards.

They just did an interview with Levi.  It sounds like there is a lot of confidence and optimism within the team.  We may actually have something this time around.  They "looked" good on the radio.  We'll "see" how they play on TV Monday.

Maybe Jamos can let us know if they passed the eyeball test tonight, when he gets in.

Tide had only 8 turnovers & forced 22 on Towson. The ball handling was so much better with 17 assists, unheard-of in years past.

Milwaukee-Wisconsin was coached by Pearl when they beat Tide & Gottfried in NCAA Tourney. First round I think.

It was quite a contrast to the way the team played Monday night and as I left Coleman tonight, I felt like this team has a chance to beat some teams this year after beating Towson 82-54. The team started slow and Towson was fired up just to be on the University of Alabama campus so the first 15 minutes of the game was pretty much a standoff between the two. Bama then turned up the heat on the defensive end and never looked back. They totally shut Towson down with the defense for the first 15 minutes of the second half and just ran away with the game. In reality though, this is what they were supposed to do if they are to get some recognition this year.

This team has a lot of talent and speed along with some improved shooting from the free throw line to the 3 point range. This team also has some experience from the newcomers that should pay them big dividends as the chemistry of the team starts to jell. There was no players standing around wondering what to do next, something that was all too prevalent on the past two year's teams. They made some mistakes but they were hustling mistakes and that is something that will improve as the team pratices and plays more games.

I didn't notice any one player that stood out above the rest either. Levi is the leader of the team but he didn't try to put the game on his back, he just played his role as just one of the players on the court which I think means a lot to the chemistry of the team. Bama doesn't need a go to guy, all they need is the confidence that any of the players can make the shot and tonight's play reflected that.

One game doesn't make a season but I think this team has a chance to have something this year providing they grow off of each game and keep improving. There will be some bumps in the road for them but with the number of players they have this year, they will have the option of playing the ones with the hot hands, something they haven't had in a very long time. RTR!!!!

The speed & quickness, along with the ball handling, looked great. Now, can we do this on a regular basis. I can't wait till we play some good teams.

 Wink
Yes, Pearl took Milwaukee to the Sweet 16 that year, then Tennessee immediately grabbed him up, until some recruiting and other issues caused his termination, and suspension from coaching for three years.

There also was an incident earlier in his career when he taped an interview with a recruit where he lost the recruiting battle.  Pearl then went to the NCAA alleging recruiting violations by the other school. The recruit said he just agreed with Pearl on the phone to get rid of him, and he passed a polygraph test, but in the investigation other violations were found.  The recruit, Deon Thomas, was asked, a few years later, if he could forgive Pearl for what happened. He said, ""It's hard to forgive a snake."  Pearl thereafter disappeared from Div. I coaching for nearly a decade, until Milwaukee hired him.

While Pearl did well at Tennessee, Auburn is a perfect fit.   Smiley
