Well, two weeks into the season & some programs are in deep do-do or else heading that way quickly. My list includes:

Vandy: This is obvious to all of us. They are 0-2 and look totally dreadful. They will probably end up at 5-7 (at best), after going 9-4 last year. They have scored 10 points in 2 games. Coach Mason will have a short career in the SEC.

Texas: The Charley Strong era has started as a disaster. They were thoroughly embarrassed by BYU 41-7, and it's going to be a long season. With all the suspensions, expulsions, & Mack Brown players it's not a pretty picture.

Michigan: The Brady Hoke era is approaching a rapid end. He lost 31-0 to Notre Dame, the only shutout and largest margin of loss by Michigan to ND.

South Carolina: The Old Ball Coach just looks OLD now. They got creamed by Tex. A&M and barely survived East Carolina.

Miss. State: After a 49-0 win over mighty Southern Miss., State fans were crowing on Finebaum that they would win the SEC West. After allowing football titan UAB to score 34 and struggling to beat them 47-34 they may not be calling Finebaum for a while.

The Urban State University: Ohio State struggled against Navy and now Virginia Tech has thumped them with a solid defense.

Clemson: After a whipping by Georgia, they showed their might against Division II cupcake South Carolina State 73-7. They play FSU next week where they can demonstrate their offensive might.

Big Ten: The Big Ten has demonstrated once again shown why their conference is a joke. Their 4 best teams have already lost one game each, Michigan St., Ohio State, Wisconsin, & Michigan. I doubt the Big Ten will have a team in the Final Four.

Big 12: The Big 12 will be changing its name to the Big 1 (Oklahoma). Texas is a joke, Okie State is hot & cold, and Kansas State is looking slow & over-matched. Baylor could be its savior and maybe give the Big 12 two competitive teams.

The season is already starting to have some interesting developments.

I'm glad that Bama is not on your list.

I think it's still too early to tell for Clemson and Miss St. The others I agree with. Strong inherited a mess and it'll be two or three before anyone can fairly assess if he's up to the task or not. Even Saban struggled in year one here.

I would take Miss St & SC off the list. MSU has never had high expectations. Their goal every year is to have a winning record, and impressive or not, they are 2-0.

USCe never had squat before Spurrier arrived. They could go 1-11 and still wouldn't fire him. They'd all be disappointed, but they wouldn't can the Ol' Ball Coach.

I wonder how much longer he will continue to coach. He sure looks miserable on the side lines but I think that might just be his natural look.

I'm surprised he doesn't have carpal tunnel and rotator cuff problems from slamming that visor down so much.

Agreed.  USCe didn't 'barely survive ECU'.  They led after every quarter, and won by 10.  ECU is a worthy opponent.  Spurrier is secure, though even he admitted they weren't well prepared for A&M.

Also, regarding Miss St, UAB's new coach brought in a ton of JuCo players and transfers and they have a lot more experienced talent on that team than most people would expect.

I wondered how they got so good, so fast. I thought maybe the trouncing of Troy last week may have been a fluke, but apparently not. (Even though it looks like Troy sucks this year, anyway).

The next thing we will hear from UAB is they want to get a game with Bama. Maybe CNS will let Wimp handle that when and if it happens. Wink

It will be a long year for the Big 10. Michigan, Ohio St and Mich St all lost games on a national stage yesterday. Michigan failed to even show up. Purdue lost to Cent Mich, Northwestern lost to N Illinois. Nebraska beat McNeese St by scoring with under 1 minute in the game. Illinois, Iowa and Minnesota all barely beat cupcakes.

UAB is a decent team this year.  And Miss. State is still Miss State.

Disagree. The "experts" had been saying that Miss. St. was a team to look out for this year and said they could be a factor in the West. I know & you know MSU will always be MSU, but their fans and the football analysis haven't figured that out. I believe USC is in trouble due to their QB play and I think they have lost too much talent overall in Connor Shaw & Clowney.

I think "in trouble" is too strong.  Perhaps, "not meeting fan expectations."

MS St. is not going to be "in trouble" for losing to Bama and LSU.

USCe isn't going to be "in trouble" for losing the SEC East battle.

I agree that both teams were over-hyped preseason.  But now we know.

How about in trouble with meeting fan & "experts" expectations?

College football has become like Nascar racing at Talledega & Daytona, lose the draft and lots of folk blow past you.

Agree with most of the in trouble schools. Michigan will probably fire Brady Hoke this year and Nebraska may fire Pelini. Charlie Strong will probably get at least 3 years before the pressure really builds.

Too early to tell about Clemson, Carolina, & Ms State. Clemson never expected to beat FSU and Dabo may be able to hold them together and go to a pretty good bowl. Carolina did expect to beat TAM and Georgia so it is critical that they beat the Dawgs. For MSU to have a great season, they need to upset LSU, BAMA, or AU. But I'm not sure the fans really expect them to actually do that.
