Recruiting is here early this year. The NEW early signing period begins on 12/20 - 12/22. We are currently have 14 committed which is low. Expect that to change in the coming days. Once the early period closes it goes to the normal first Wednesday in February.

Our current class of 14 is rated #9 by 24/7 and #11 by Rivals & ESPN. CNS always closes strong and I do not expect this year to be any different.

Sure hope he does finish strong, as usual. Kinda weird only having 14 commits at this point.

The one thing I am looking at in these 14 recruits is where they are repairing the holes. RTR!

The link below is to Bama Online line 2018 recruiting targets. We currently have 16 commitments. They are noted with the Script A in the far right column. We are still after some of the bigger fish. The Under Armor All-Star game is 1/4/18 and some of the nations best recruits announce live on TV during the game. Do not get hung up on only signing less than 20 during the early signing period. I think we end up Top 3 again this year.

How are coaches expected to recruit and prepare for national championship playoffs?

I suppose all that can be accomplished in an early signing period is to shore up those recruits who have been on-board since day one so that the coaches can focus on the rest of the recruiting targets after the playoffs.

Not sure what I think of all this.   Undecided

But I do believe that Bama will end up with another great class when it is all over.   Wink

Nick Saban’s opinion of early signing period hasn’t wavered: He still hates it

Quote
Nick Saban looked a little weary Friday evening, but it wasn’t because the University of Alabama football team had just held its first postseason practice in preparation for the College Football Playoff.

You think your schedule is a little chaotic now?

In addition to starting to get his team ready for the rematch with the opponent it faced in the last two national title games, he is dealing with coaching issues, new players already arriving and, of course, the new early signing period.

Alabama had scores of prospects at practice Friday, and it is a huge weekend in terms of recruiting.

Alabama started off Wednesday’s Early Signing Period with a bang!

DT Christian Barmore (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) pulled the trigger for the Tide in a message from his Twitter account. The 6-foot-5, 290-pound prospect chose the Tide over numerous other schools, including Georgia, Miami and Tennessee.

Barmore is rated a 4-star and ranked as the nation’s No. 17 DT and the state of Pennsylvania’s No. 6 overall player, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The commitment from Anoma moved Alabama up to No. 5 in the 247Sports team rankings for the 2018 signing class.

Plenty of time to reel more in.
