Well, the Braves continue their total lack of clutch hitting. They are hitting an incredible .143 with the bases loaded. They blew a 5 run lead against the Red Sox and lost at home 8-6. I'm trying very hard not to cuss & scream.

No way the Braves should have lost that game. The BoSox are in a terrible slump. They had been swept for the last three series and lost 9 in a row. Starting pitcher Clay Buchholz spotted the Braves a 5 run lead by walking 8 batters in 3 innings pitched.

I was channel surfing yesterday and came across the O's vs the Brewers. At the time, Milwaukee was up 6-4. The O's had a runner on first and the batter hit into a double play. I thought to myself that Baltimore and Atlanta have a lot in common in that area. A few minutes later the Braves were starting back up after the rain delay, and after giving up the 5 run lead. Boston walks the 1st Braves batter and Johnson hits into a DP.

I was correct up to that point, however, the O's came back to win. The Braves are...well....the Braves.

Shoot you should have seen the Braves back in late 60's and early 70's. All they wanted to do back then was see Hank Aaron hit home runs to build his stature. They would give games away just to keep him in the game whether he was having a good day at bat or not. They haven't changed a whole lot it seems. JMHO guys. RTR!

Preacher, I remember the 60's and 70's well. For the most part, Aaron was the only decent player they had.

In the 1960's they had Felipe Alou, Joe Torre, Clete Boyer, & Phil Niekro. By the 70's they had Aaron & Niekro and not much else.

Hey I am feeling a little younger now. MD those names do bring back some memories setting in Fulton County Stadium and listening to the beer man. He was always talking and making his job Known.

The 1969 team won the division that year with:

Hank Aaron- 44 homers
Phil Niekro-23 game winner
Ron Reed - 18 game winner
Cecil Upshaw-27 saves
Orlando Cepeda-1B
Pat Jarvis- 13 game winner
Clete Boyer-3B
Felix Milan-2B

They would not win another until 1982.

O's blew it last night, though. Down 5-0, came back to take the lead, Brewers force extras, and then Buck decides to walk a position player to get to a pinch hitter, who just happened to be a pitcher. So, of course, he hits a double off the wall and the O's go down. We have the offense to stay with anyone in the league, but our pitching stinks.  Banging your head against the wall.

Thanks MD. I remember that year now and I had completely forgotten. One thing I remember is that Clete Boyer was my favorite until Dale Murphy came along. As I remember Orlando Cepeda was was fairly good too. The old knuckle baller himself. That old goat could pitch and he struck out some good batters that couldn't catch up to the knuckle ball. RTR!

Well, Braves lost to Red Sox 4-0 on Wednesday. Braves had 9 hits but left 10 men on base. the reason the Braves are struggling to score is very easy to understand. The lead-off hitter is hitting a whopping .240, the 2nd batter is hitting an impressive .216, the 5th hitter is hitting .248, and Johnson is hitting .263. So much for Boston being a hitters park.

This shows Braves to be 1/2 game in front of Miami for first place. I am still a little in wonderment how Miami turned out so good this year? RTR!

They have great pitching this year. That will carry a mediocre hitting team a long way.
