Mississippi State adds Alabama to list of upset wins(Softball)

The second-ranked University of Alabama softball team couldn’t throw strikes Saturday.

Couldn’t hit them, either.

Crimson Tide batters struck out a dozen times, tying a season high, and managed just two hits, tying a season low, against Mississippi State ace Allison Owen in a 4-2 loss in front of a record crowd of 1,577 at MSU Softball Stadium.

This loss could be a plus for the ladies with tournament time just ahead, it got rid of the winning streak. Leslie Jury just can't handle pressure situations, she started the season doing better but has regressed in the last games she has pitched. I've seen State's pitcher and she can be very tough, but not that tough, Bama just had a bad day at the plate.

If there were 1500 people in their stadium yesterday, they had to be sitting in some laps, that is a very small stadium.

We didn't know about the football spring game when we made our plans. I had wanted to go to the State and Ole Miss baseball game yesterday as well, John Cohen's sister was going with us and I was going to get a chance to have a chat with him before the game. I can do that though when State comes to Tuscaloosa later on. By the way, it was some kind of a baseball game they had, State scored 4 runs in the 10th to win it. I can only imagine what the cowbells sounded like over there with softball and baseball each winning.

Traina and Keller pitching today for the Tide. They both have been very good in Game 3's this entire year. I like our chances to win both series.
