"TUSCALOOSA -- Former Alabama All-Americans Derrick Thomas, Marty Lyons and Bobby Humphrey are among the 79 former football players and nine coaches in the running for induction into the 2011 Football Bowl Subdivision College Football Hall of Fame, the National Football Foundation announced Monday."

Derrick Thomas was a natural athlete and a great player, even as a freshman.  He came onto the scene in the Kickoff Classic, chasing the ball all over the field against highly regarded (of course) Ohio State.. 

With the entire nation watching, Thomas screwed up the celebration by extending the game after it appeared Alabama had won.  The game ended only after Ohio State's last hopes ended without a score (at the Crimson Tide's 18-yard line); they got 2 extra plays with no time left when LB Derrick Thomas was called for pass interference on successive plays. Tongue  It hardly mattered.

I remember that game well. He didn't make many more mistakes after that game. One of the greatest players ever to wear crimson.

These are 3 great ones. They made their teams win because of their personal abilities. I would be heart broken if either one misses. RTR!
