FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING: Alabama's Kevin Norwood was named the South's Most Outstanding Player for his receiving skills, not his passing. Norwood, who caught four passes for 53 yards and a touchdown, ended his day with an interception on a trick play, as Pierre Decir of Lindenwood picked off his pass in the end zone.

"I thought he was open," Norwood said of his intended receiver. "I didn't see the DB. I thought he fell for the fake but he didn't. With those big guys in front of my I couldn't really see. First interception of my whole life - I'd never thrown an interception before."

Pierre Desir of Lindenwood is the Small College Defensive Player of the Year. Lindenwood is in St. Charles, MO.
