Talking to the media Thursday, Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly said if Golson is accepted back in to the university, then he would be eligible to practice with the team as the Irish prepare for whatever bowl game they will be playing in.

“He can [practice], but again, a lot of this is theoretical,” Kelly said according to Blue Gold Illustrated. “If he’s admitted back into school on Dec. 15, he would be eligible to practice. So if that’s the case, then we would practice him. He would not of course [play in a bowl game].

"Suspended for academic problems"? 
It wasn't a minor incident, like football keeping him from making grades.  He was caught blatantly cheating on a final exam.  I doubt ND lets him return, and they wouldn't even if he was a great (not marginal) QB.  Of course, I've overestimated ND before.
