Good write up about Trent Richardson. I look for him to have a huge year.

Quote
“You ever seen him with his shirt off?” asks Alabama center William Vlachos. “It’s scary.”

Offensive guard Barrett Jones adds, “You look at him, and the guy is a freak. You watch him work out, and he’s one of the strongest human beings I’ve ever seen. I can’t wait to see what he does this year on the field.”

Richardson, who steps in as Alabama’s feature back now that Mark Ingram has departed for the NFL, doesn’t necessarily want to be known as a “Workout Warrior.” He wants to be known as one of the best players in college football and somebody who helped lead his team to championships.

It has been said that CSC has to "hold him back" in the weight room.

If our loud yet wonder Strength coach has to hold him back that is scarey. If he comes out 225 lbs. of muscle with 10.0 to 11.0 speed he would be a burner like a Amtrak coming down the track. I am sure the guys on defense will say OMG! lol, RTR!

You are right about that ricky. Even if they don't say if before they tackle him, they will be saying it afterwards. Or, they will probably say, "What just happened?".

The word "freak" gets thrown about WAY to often in the  fitness community. But, two people who it certainly applies to, are Julio Jones, and Trent Richardson. I still can't get over what Under Armor had to say about Julio, after the combine. Un-FREAKin' Believable!!!  They are true perfect storms of class, drive, determination, work ethic, and genetics. And Trent is just as much or more of a freak than Julio. These are two people that have their heads on straight, who have a bull's eye on a target and are totally focused on getting there. They have known at an early age what they want to do (play in the NFL) and are concentrating 24 / 7 on getting there. Ironically (not really ironic at all) they were both raised lower income, were shepherded by their mothers to stay out of trouble, and now both want to pay their mothers back more than anything else in this world. I wish I would have had 1/8th of the maturity these guys have, when I was their age.

And incase any of you missed about what was found out about Julio at the combines ( using Under Armor's new E39 tech shirt...read this slowly, let each sentence really sink in. This almost " Alien Freakish."

"We were monitoring his heart rate at the combine, and three minutes before he was to run his 40, he was at 125 beats per minute. So, he's ready — he's not laying around at 70 beats per minute, ready to fall asleep. Then, when he stepped up to the line, without warming up at all, boom — his heart rate shot up from 125 to 146. And what we learned in military testing from Special Forces guys is that you don't want to be below 140 beats per minute, and they don't want to be above 160. Above 160, your judgment goes down, your reaction time goes down, and your peripheral vision goes away, basically. But when you get in that zone, there's a heightened sense of reaction time, and you have optimal strength output. It really showed for him.

"So he went up there, and he crushed it. In his 4.39 40, he generated 8.73 Gs in his 40 start. To reference that, out of the 30-plus guys we tested on the 40, in terms of Gs generated in the first second, they averaged out in the high 60s. And these are the most explosive guys — the ones going in the first and second rounds.

"Keep in mind that you're at one G just standing. So, the range is more like 1.0 to 8.73. He was 20 to 30 percent better than the most highly trained athletes. A normal human being, like Rich Eisen? 1.9 Gs."

Now, I am certainly not trying to derail this thread, or take away from Trent, on the contrary, I think that when Trent goes to the combine, he may even blow people away more than Julio did.
