White, Bell, Kevin Norwood and Christion Jones -- all juniors or seniors -- have received the lion's share of these short throws. He's found a way to get it to one of his tight ends at least once per game, though it appears defenses are recognizing the threat posed by freshman O.J. Howard, who had a combined six catches for 106 yards against Texas A&M and Colorado State but just one for 13 yards in Alabama's past two games.

McCarron's top deep threat from last season, Amari Cooper, has been hampered by toe and foot injuries, sat out the Colorado State game and wasn't targeted often against Ole Miss and Georgia State.

"Coverage has been the same as always," McCarron said when he was asked specifically about Cooper. "I don't know really how much his toe is hurting or not." ...

Really?  Hmmm.   Huh? Huh?

I don't think that was a "Clowney" implication. I think it is Amari not admitting how much it really bothers him.

I have no problem with the short passes. You always take what the "D" gives you.

I still think that Cooper had gotten a little lazy and I think CNS called his hand after the game last week when he made the statement that Cooper needed to do more in practice. No doubt he has been injured but how bad was the injury? This week he has had a very good week of practice per CNS so we will see how he plays Saturday. Maybe he healed a lot this week. Wink

I worried about all of the accolades that Amari received after last year, and that such would affect him.  Hopefully not, but (as you say, J) he seems to have gotten a bad case of entitlement.  Alternatively, he is in denial about this injury.

Bottom line: Amari needs to get well soon if he's to maintain his status as a premier WR.  Hopefully that improvement starts against Kentucky!
