Phil Steele's national prognostications are always a hot topic in the summer.

The college football guru is also not afraid to project teams beyond the upcoming season.

Laughing Laughing this is most out of your mind guy I have seen lately. I think auburn may get back to Ole Miss type or MSU but I can't see National Championships in their future. To get those you have to go through Alabama and I remember something,"NEVER AGAIN."  RTR!

You never know about Awbarn, they just received a donation from one of their trustees last week worth millions of dollars. We all know what money can do for that program. Wink

Steele did not include Auburn in his top 40 this season, but he does tab the Tigers as one of his most improved teams. Auburn went 3-9 in 2012, leading to Chizik's firing and the hiring of Malzahn, the Tigers' offensive coordinator for three of the last four years.

Now that's what I call sticking your neck out there. Do you really think the barn can improve over last year's impressive record, Phil?

Steele lists Auburn as an underdog in as many as seven games, including a home game against Ole Miss, but has the Tigers winning enough to become bowl eligible with a trip to the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, La.

While that wouldn't surprise me, it is the best the Barn can hope for this year.

Isn't Shreveport the Auburn of Louisiana anyway? They should be right at home.

Phil Steele is actually one of the most successful and accurate preseason prognosticators out there.  He's been good the last few years, including being high on Bama before most gurus were.

The big difference is we had Nick Saban, a coach who had won a National Championship, Auburn has a coach from Arkansas State.

At one point Nick Saban was just a coach from Toledo.

I could be wrong, but I think the only reason Auburn did well a few years ago, other than Scam, was CGM.  They won with offense, their defense was second rate.  He's no Saban, but he ain't Cheese either.
