Wow, how time flys by. It seems only a very short time ago that Kayla arrived in Tuscaloosa with all of her playing skills and bringing a 103 game hitting streak from her high school days. I can't remember how long this hitting streak continued after she got to Bama, but I think it was 20 or 30 something more games before it finally ended. Fast pitch softball is a tough sport and it's very hard to imagine a hitting streak that lasted that long.
Kayla will be missed after she leaves because of her character. She is very dedicated to the program and has so much energy that she shares either by a neck hug when you might see her off the field or when she is trying to start a winning rally by one of her trademark bunts. But to top off all of her success on the softball field, she also has an award winning GPA in the classroom.
Bama will have a huge challenge this weekend as they travel to play Tennessee in a Super Regional and if Kayla can continue her hot streak with the bat, Bama has a good chance of beating the Vols. It won't be easy for the team, but you can bet that she will be giving it all she has to get the team to Oklahoma City for another shot at a national championship.
