I have read he has been looting the team's finances, something to the tune of $170 million, borrowing on the teams name like crazy and just a total sleaze.

He tried to sell a long term contract to FOX without MLB approval.  He had to do this in order to play employes.  Something like a 10 year contract for 30 million dollars.

The real shame of ths whole situation is the Dodgers used to be considered the best baseball franchise in baseball. From top to bottom, they were te envy of baseball. Great owner, management, super minor league system, 3 million in attendance every year, competitive team every year, just the absolue best team in baseball. The slippage started about 15 years ago, and now they have hit rock bottom. Bad for them and baseball.

For all of the above reasons it was good idea Selig decided to do this.  I think the final straw was the parking lot attack on the Giants fan.  Being the Dodgers are one of baseball's true storied franchises, they will have a good owner in place relatively soon.  They will be back on top, the team generates enough money to do it.

The Dodgers was great when the little Fat man was their manager. They haven't been so good good since he left. RTR!

I'm a lifelong Dodgers fan.  I'm only 30, but my Dad has been following the Dodgers since the 1950s.  I agree with what many of you have said about the history of the franchise.

From 1950-1997 the Dodgers were owned by the O'Malley family.  From 1958-1996 they only had two managers - Walter Alston and Tommy Lasorda.  Vin Scully has been their broadcaster since 1950.  They were a first class organization with first class people who all had the same goal, and they believe in doing it the right way.

The farm system and overall infrastructure of the program was second to none even into the 90s when their stars were true Dodgers out of the system.  They had Eric Karros, Mike Piazza, Raul Mondesi, Hideo Nomo, Todd Hollandsworth - five NL Rookie of the Year winners in a row - from 92-96.  Overall the Dodgers have produced 16 Rookie of the Year winners - double the number of the second place team (Yankees).

Enter Rupert Murdoch and NewsCorp in '97 or '98.  The team just became another business investment by a corporation where the only agenda was not producing a first class, winning ball club.  It might not even have been the primary agenda.

Thankfully some of the folks have stuck it through - Lasorda and Scully are still around.  I do believe McCourt wanted the best for the Dodgers at first, but this divorce has become his life.  IMO, the biggest weakness during his time has been a poor general manager and offseason trading.

I sure hope something good comes out of this...it's a worrisome time for the Dodgers.  I hope we don't get another NewsCorp type ownership.

They say it is very dangerous to go to a game.

It is sad because the Dodgers have such a good history. They were on top for many years.

I have not been to a home game since '07.  I went to a couple versus the Mets and one against the crosstown Angels.  The Angels game probably had the most chance for violence as any game in town other than the Giants.  I never saw anything at all except a brief incident in the left-field bleachers (the Latino section essentially).  The stadium and the area around it was all very laid back.  The Dodgers have a beautiful setting for a game all to itself in Chavez Ravine.  You really don't know you're in the city.

I would hate to know if it has changed so dramatically for the worse in just 4 years.  We plan to go back next season to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Dodger stadium.

I don't have a link but I heard recently on ESPN radio that the Dodgers have the most dangerous park in MLB. It surprised me too.
