.....you ruled a player eligible after his father publically admitted shopping his son for the best payment.  Yet you're going to actually...and seriously....penalize a school over a name?  Regardless of a state law mandating that they keep their school's name?

"BISMARCK, N.D. -- A new state law that orders the University of North Dakota to keep its Fighting Sioux nickname won't shield the school from penalties for continuing to use a moniker the NCAA considers hostile to American Indians, an NCAA executive told the school Tuesday.

The law, which says UND must use the nickname and a logo featuring the profile of an American Indian warrior, "cannot change the NCAA policy" against using American Indian nicknames, logos or mascots that are considered offensive, said Bernard Franklin, an NCAA executive vice president.

The letter means UND will be subject to NCAA sanctions after the new law takes effect in August. According to NCAA policy, the school will be barred from hosting NCAA postseason games and its teams will not be able to wear the nickname and logo on its uniforms in postseason contests."

WOW! This is horrible. The NCAA has so much more to do with schools who are doing illegal and they pick on this school. This is biggest bunch of junk I have read. I thank you for posting this, it just breaks my heart that the NCAA is so stupid. I think we should go back to the old days of CFA(College Football Associaton). This is when games were great and there was no cheating cause you didn't drag out for years you was poof gone. Do ya'll remember, this was back in the 60's till the NCAA took over. Another stupid move, please pardon my attitude because the NCAA is becoming a Big Red-Headed Brother. RTR!

What about the mascot of the Auburn Tigers? That has to offen every tiger in the world to be assiciated with such a podunk piece of crap school. How come no one is standing up for tigers' rights? If I were a tiger I would sue teh NCAA for slander for allowing my species to be asociated with Auburn.
