Big recruiting news for Alabama and Auburn

There are mixed emotions in the state of Alabama this morning when it comes to the world of recruiting. Alabama's football program received some very good news on the recruiting front, while Auburn lost one of its top recruits. The Crimson Tide picked up a verbal commitment from ESPN 150 defensive end Tim Williams of Baton Rouge, La., Monday, less than 24 hours after he took an official visit to Alabama's campus. As for Auburn, the news wasn't as good Monday, as ESPN 150 defensive tackle Dee Liner of Muscle Shoals, Ala., decommitted from Tigers.

Liner is the No. 26 overall prospect in the country and the No. 4 defensive tackle in the 2013 class. Liner had been committed to Auburn since June 2011, but decided to reopen his recruitment after all of Auburn's coaching changes. Liner will now make his final decision on national signing day and Alabama is the perceived frontrunner for his services.

Williams is the top player in Louisiana.

Dee Liner would be a good pick up for Bama. He has had some attitude problems in high school but hopefully that is behind him.

More reloading. Life is good. Another very solid class coming in and it's not over yet. Still out there are Von Bell, Foster, Tunsil and Nkemdiche. I know Nkemdiche is a long shot and most think Tunsil is a UGa lean, but not by that much, according to the talking heads. This would surely lead to another #1 class if we were to get at least 2 of them. Might be #1 anyway.

I love to watch CNS recruit. I don't think he likes attitudes either, so I'm not sure if he goes after Liner or not. This guy from LA. seems to be a whirl win pick up. Best athlete is a big broad statement. RTR!

Worrying about who wins #1 in recruiting is just plain silly. The very nature of rating recruits by Rivals, Scout, or ESPN is so subjective that the precise ranking  is meaningless. But being consistently in the top 3 or the top 5 indicates huge success and generally translates to the playing field. Much more importantly, if you are looking for something to boast about, is CNS's ability to keep these recruits in school and out of jail for 4 or 5 years.

But being consistently in the top 3 or the top 5 indicates huge success and generally translates to the playing field. Much more importantly, if you are looking for something to boast about, is CNS's ability to keep these recruits in school and out of jail for 4 or 5 years.   

CNS is way above the other coaches in developing his players, on and off the field, and all of the big time talk shows are saying just that since the Notre Dame beat down. I've heard some great interviews from many of the top analysts just drooling over what CNS has accomplished at Bama.

The recruiting sites should just take Saban's word for it and automatically crown his class #1 each year, then analyze their processes to figure out how their formula came up with the wrong answer if they didn't have him #1 to begin with.  HTH.

Maybe being #1 in the ESPN analyses is somewhat important since that will be what their announcers will recite during games, all season long.

Hey BAMAWV, hope all is well with the family. I agree that recruiting comes down to who is the best fit for the place your trying to fill. What I was saying I love to watch him how gets stuff done especially recruiting. I too love our graduation rate and the Class with which this program continues with. This whole set up is very good for us I think. RTR!
