Very interesting. The NFL is testing the waters for expansion.

It happens every year, I believe. I took my son to see the Saints a few years ago. The stands are always packed, and the British press are amazed at the size of the players and always take cracks at our protective pads (compared to rugby players) and the way the action stops after every play. One magazine a month ago claims rugby is becoming popular in the States, saying its players are not obsessed with becoming big stars and they have less ethical problems than American football players. Both statements are completely false.

It's usually exhibition though isnt it?

Good luck with that rugby thing... lol..

I thought it was during the regular season and both teams had a bye week. I am pretty sure it was the Dolphins.

Reminds me that Notre Dame will play Navy in Dublin, Ireland, in 2012. They also played there in 1996. Rather strange. The Fighting Irish have an unfair advantage in the Old Country.

I don't know about the expansion idea. One, can London supply enough fan support for such a venture; 2) It seems like any team across the Atlantic would be at a disadvantage on road trips, due to time change and shortened practice time.

Isn't that what the old World League of American Football did when it first started? The European champ would play the American champ in the World Bowl, I think.

Yeah, that's the hanging points on expansion. Imagine flying from San Francisco to London. That's over 6,000 miles. That's a lot of flying. Plus, I just don't see it catching on in Spain, Germany, France, etc.
