Tide offense not on fire, defense back to old ways

This article from the Anniston Star is one of the better ones I have read. Michael Casagrande is one of my favorite beat writers.

The 92,310 who attended were there for a quarterback competition. They got one along with six combined turnovers though only two were interceptions thrown by AJ McCarron and Phillip Sims. Then there was the curious case of the left tackle and the defense that looked closer to the 2009 championship version than last season’s sequel.

It wasn’t all bad for the offense and the two quarterbacks battling to lead it. Both looked sharp most of the afternoon — drops and a few misfires held scoring down. McCarron and Sims split time with the first and second teams and both had higher completion percentages with the projected starters.

Casagrande writes for several newspapers. I think the papers are owned by the same parent company or something like that. He is the Bama beat writer for my local paper The Decatur Daily. I can't post from that site because it is a pay site. I take the paper so I get the online too. He also covers my kids high school team Austin High.

The Anniston Star is a great paper. I have read them for years. I will say they gave Alabama, JSU, and Auburn equal coverages. RTR!
