Two Tide BB Players Leave Team

I was watching the sports report on channel 33/40 at 10 p.m and they announced two Tide BB players were leaving the team. Freshman forward Jason Carter and Juco PG Kendall Durant. Well, I guess we have more than 2 schollys to offer in 2010 after all. I think Grant's recruiting has been so well, he knows he can get much better talent and probably already has some lined up for 2012. If we have a really good team next year, recruiting will only get better.

I know Carter did and I think Durant as well. Carter usually had his first foul in his first minute in the game.

Here is an article about the players that have left the program. It appears it was a mutual decision between CAG and the players. It looks like playing time was not in their future so transfering to another program is in the best interest of the players and the school.

We have 7 players on scholarship. Four signed for next year. Hopefully Trevor Lacey signs to give us 12 on scholarship. You can have 13 on scholarship.

Yeah, that's why I had made the the comment about 2012. I had read we would have only 2 schollys for 2012, but that was before these transfers. Plus, a poster on this board had commented, that physically, Carter didn't have the body to play at the SEC level and needed to work at getting it in better shape. I think he was referring to his strength and muscle development. We still need some inside players, since we have Green coming back as the only inside power guy we have.

I am not positive but I think the scholarship rule is you can sign a maximum of 5 per year and the overall total can not exceed 13. We have 4 signed, Lacey will be 5.

It is similar to football where you can sign 25 per year but the total cannot exceed 85.

I think it is Lacey or nothing to close out this year.

Hunter Jeffery is listed on this years roster. He is not on scholarship. I assume he will be back next year. He is a sophomore guard from Grissom High School in Huntsville.

J. Greene will be the only senior next year. Mitchell could go pro but we will not have many scholarships to offer next year.

CAG is building a team that will be remembered for a long time. When he gets done he will compete like VCU did this year, year in and year out. RTR!

Coach Grant may be keeping one extra for 2012. When Greene graduates, that leaves us with two schollys to offer. However, Mitchell wll be a junior and if he takes a big jump in his game, he could leave, same for Releford as a sophomore. I really don't see Releford leaving next year, but these kids are so unpredictable.
