As big a travesty as this is, I have to admit that I'm pretty excited about Bama playing for yet another NC. Hate it for UGA and all the others, but stuff happens.

Northern Illinois going to a BCS Bowl is a joke.  Their coach is leaving before the bowl game even, to go to N.C.St.

Well Iowa, with 8 losses, did beat that N.Ill. BCS team, so the conference can't be all bad.   Laughing

No Ill may be forced to buy a large number of Orange Bowl tickets.  If they can't sell them, the school will take a financial hit.  May even loose $$$ on the trip.

They have to buy 17,500 tickets. The average attendance for their home games is 10,600. They may have to buy some expensive tickets but they can afford it. Each BCS bowl team is expected to get $18M. The team normally deducts all expenses and then turns the rest of the money over to the conference to be distributed. Not only will No Illinois not lose money but the entire conference will get a check like they have never seen before.
