Austin beats Gardendale 53-38 in a 6A Playoff shootout to advance to the semifinals against Clay-Chalkville. Clay-Chalkville may be the best team in the state regardless of classification.

7A #1 Spain Park beat Hoover to advance to the 7A final against McGill-Toolen. The 7A classification less less teams than the others so they reach the finals a week ahead of everyone else.

Spain Park's win over Hoover is not an upset. Spain Park is rated #1 in 7A and beat Hoover in the regular season. Spain Park is now 12-1 wil their only loss coming in the season opener to Austin.
