Anthony Grant talks Alabama hoops

Alabama’s basketball team will open its season Tuesday night with a home exhibition against Stillman College.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Coleman Coliseum, and tickets are $6 each. You can get them at the door or by calling 1-877-TIDETIX.

The regular season begins Friday night at 8 against South Dakota State. That’s a home game, too, and ESPNU will televise it. Tickets are $8-14.

We can not afford any injuries this year. Steele sat out the scrimmage with a groin injury and the big Swed was out. We need all 10 scholly players healthy.

I really am looking forward to this Tide BB team. I think we have the nucleus of a fine team. The keys are:

1. Releford leads and improves even more at the point plus improves outside shot

2. Lacy & maybe Randolph develop good outside shots

3. Gueye & Jacobs can bang inside, intimidate shooters and rebound-I know Jacobs can,   but if Gueye can do this, look out

4. How good is Pollard and can he contribute right away

5. How well does Cooper develop

6. Can Steele be healthy all year (not looking good already)

I still predict the Tide going 22-8/23-7 in the regular season.
