TUSCALOOSA -- Trey DePriest was standing in line to register for a high school football combine when a name on the shirt in front of him jumped out, "Sunseri."
The linebacker from Springfield (Ohio) High knew a Sunseri. He got the attention of the kid wearing the shirt and asked, "Is coach Sal your dad?"
Vinnie Sunseri acknowledged he was the youngest son of Alabama assistant Sal Sunseri, and the bond already established with the Crimson Tide began to strengthen even more.
"We exchanged information and we've been talking ever since," DePriest said in February. "We have a good relationship now."
So good the two became roommates in January when they enrolled for the spring semester fresh out of high school.
Already, DePriest appears to have made a good choice, earning the praise of his new team and Alabama coach Nick Saban through the first two weeks of spring practice.
