Nick Saban relishes these moments whenever he can. In the Alabama coach’s mind, they’re just too integral to the future of his program.

Against Western Kentucky in the second week of the season, they didn’t come in the kind of abundance that might have been anticipated. On Saturday at Arkansas, there was, perhaps, a surplus of them.

With Alabama up 38-0 and four minutes to play in Saturday’s third quarter, Saban got it started by pulling quarterback AJ McCarron in favor of his two backups, Phillip Ely and Blake Sims. By the start of the fourth quarter, Alabama’s second-team offense and defense had taken complete control. When the 52-0 rout was officially over, senior walk-on Ben Howell, who hadn’t touched the ball since 2010, had six carries....

There's no one on the team that gives more effort when they are playing than Ben. What you saw Ben do Sarturday is a normal thing for him, hustle, hustle, and hustle some more. The walk-ons don't get the credit that they derserve team wise, but they are the ones that represent the opponent each week in practice which is so important in game preparation.

Does Ben play on special teams?  (Just wondering why he was suited out for the Arky game, I doubt it was as RB).
