The college football season is barely two weeks old and Arkansas coach John L. Smith is already urging Razorback fans not to abandon ship.

"This is the same football team, the same program, the same coaches as before," Smith said at his Monday press conference. "They deserve (the fans') support, we need the support. Either you are in the boat with us or you are out."

"Before" refers to a happier time, back when the Razorbacks were ranked in the top 10, when they had quarterback Tyler Wilson healthy and no loss to Louisiana-Monroe on their resume. Now, the mood outside the football complex in Fayetteville seems apprehensive, and the players on the inside are talking in terms like, "We've got John L.'s back." (That was from Razorback safety Ross Rasner.) ...

 Talk about meltdown.

I really hope players dont think this will be an easy game. Arky has talent, coaching not so much, but Arky will be fired up, the crowd in Fayetteeville will be loud, this is their season now, no doubt Bama will get thier best shot.

I dont think they have the D to stop Bama but no one thought ULM would win last week either.

I just hope Bama gets thier Pass rush back ...soon!

Anthoer thought here is that the QB that switched to WR for ARKY this year has been taking reps at QB this week, could mess up Bamas game plan for an Arky qb that is not mobile.

I hate a running qb that can throw also (notice DR, i said can throw) it will give the D all kinds of problems, but again Arkys D has shown they can stop anyone so we will see i guess.

Yeah, but Bama is armed with a 12 gauge shotgun with slugs and a .270 Winchester and the animal is wounded, bleeding, and too weak to flee, hide, or attack.

They probably are more dangerous/desperate today than they were a week ago.  However they are not nearly as dangerous as everyone thought they were a week ago, especially if their QB can't play this week.

It could be a game if Arky plays their best and we play our worst.  Their defense could be key.

Expect:

1. All-out effort by Arky to score in kicking game;
2. Lots of stunts (as did WKU) against our O-line;
3. Their D-line and LBs will ignore play-action fakes (as WKU did);
4. Man coverage by their DBs much of the game.  They have new faces there after injuries, so Norwood, Jones, and others could have a big day.
5. We could return to passes to RBs and H-back (sensu 2010, 2011 offense);
6. More screen passes by us;
7. Kelly Johnson could have a break-out day.
