**The Tide quietly has made a position change on defense. Sophomore Vinnie Sunseri started the first game at free safety but was replaced in the second game by junior Nick Perry. Sunseri still plays the “Star” position, a hybrid linebacker, in the nickel defense. This was reflected at today’s practice.
**The news media was allowed to observe only one period. That wasn’t enough to see if someone – anyone – was lining up as a fullback in Fowler’s place.
**Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner (hip flexor) did not play Saturday in a 35-0 victory over Western Kentucky, but he is moving well on the practice field today.
**Nose guard Jesse Williams (mild concussion) did not play against Western Kentucky, but he is participating fully with Alabama’s other defensive linemen...

I guess Vinnie was moved because of the big passing plays that Michigan had.

My guess is he lacks the speed needed for man coverage against some teams.  He'll play plenty.

I just hope this switch doesn't mean he's nicked up.

I wouldn't necessarily read a lot into it.  Vinnie has so many roles on the team its possible that it's just a matter of Nick improving to the point of being able to relieve some of the pressure off him and allow him to be fresher.  They want Vinnie to have that "playmaker" effect much like Arenas...that's the nature of the star.

But as Chechem said also, Vinnie isn't who  you want on an outside receiver man-to-man.
