Well shoot now Cleburne Co. has lost 2 in a row cause Jacksonville beat them to night. Ranburne won again in 2A and now is 8-0. My old school. It has been a long time since Ranburne has played this good. RTR!

Hey CB, aren't you a Tuscaloosa County alum?  If so, your boys will be playing Hoover on ESPNU on Thursday night.

Yeah, I am! Sweet. I will have to turn it on and watch us get skulldragged.

Believe me, I am aware. That is what the whole "skuldragged" comment was about. It would be us that Hoover gets to humiliate on national television. Oh well, at least I will get to see the Wildcats play for the first time in quite awhile.

This is some bad news. Your only loss came to Bessember City. Hoover beat them 48-7. Ouch!

Austin has a difficult match up this week. We play 8-0 Bob Jones who is rated # 2.

Well, my boys went up to Hoover a few years ago and pulled off an upset in the regular season (of course, we met them in the playoffs the same year and got it handed to us), so who knows? Maybe the boys will get it going and pull it off.

Hoover beat TC 41-0. TC only got 59 yards total offense.

CB I know you wanted the win but I would not get too upset with this loss. Hoover does it to everyone. TC is 7-2 and headed to the playoffs. They still have a lot of football to play.

Austin plays # 2 Bob Jones tonight. The Decatur Daily expects a close game picking Bob Jones to win 17-14.

I have posted each week how Austin lost another game in disappointing fashion. If you don't believe me look at the Decatur Daily's preview of tonights game.

This season, Austin had fourth-quarter leads in every game, and almost every game came down to the final possession. … Austin has played its best football in the second half of the season, winning three of its last five games. Chase Colon has emerged as a gritty playmaker as both a running back and receiver, and veteran quarterback Chris Sparkman has played well. … Sparkman, a fourth-year starter, is closing in on several career milestones. Heading into Week 9, Sparkman has 5,920 career passing yards, 57 career touchdowns (47 passing and 10 rushing) and 496 career completions. … Fourth-ranked Bob Jones already has secured the Region 8 title. Nah, we got our butts whipped fair and square. Hoover looks almost unstoppable.

HL is right. Austin pulled off the upset and beat # 2 Bob Jones 28-22 last night. Like every Austin game this year the game came down to the last possession. Austin intercepted a BJ pass in the end zone with 15 seconds to play to seal the win.

We miss the playoffs by a tie breaker. Decatur and Austin have 4-3 region records but Decatur wins the tie breaker since they beat us.

It was COLD last night.

I was just checking the scores and saw that Hazel Green beat Buckhorn 28-27. That means Austin finished area play tied for third but lose tie breakers to both Decatur and Buckhorn. We all finished 4-3 but both of those ties beat us after we gave up 4th qtr leads.


In 5A #3 Muscle Shoals beat #9 Cullman 47-7. Including Cullman's 7 points MS has only given up 24 points all year (9 games). Spanish Fort and Jackson must be very good to be ranked ahesd of MS.

Tough season for Austin, pmull, but congrats on the big win last night.  That's something to build on for next year (even though I know there's still an out-of-region game left).  I read the al.com write-up about the game - sounded like a real thriller.  I'm thinking Madison Academy may be the only team north of Birmingham that has a shot at winning it all this year.  Muscle Shoals has had a good run, but that region is pretty weak I'm thinking.
