Alabama ranked No. 1 in men's and women's golf

The Alabama women's golf team will start the 2012-13 season in the same spot where it ended the previous season: ranked No. 1.

And the Alabama men's golf team, which finished No. 2 in the nation last season, also is ranked No. 1 going into upcoming season.

"It is exciting to be the preseason No. 1, but there is a long year ahead of us and we know how difficult it will be," Alabama coach Jay Seawell said in a news release. "Coming so close to a championship a year ago has only strengthened this team's bond and work ethic. We are looking forward to each shot this season and the opportunity to perform to our standards."

"Winning the national championship last year will not change how we approach this season," Alabama coach Mic Potter said in a news release. "If anything, it serves to validate the ideas that we have relied on in the past. Our goal is winning championships, and our philosophy is to prepare every day to be successful. It is an honor to be the preseason No. 1, but our focus right now is the first tournament of this season."

Congrats to the two teams!! 

There's no doubt that the athletic program at Bama now ranks in the top five in the country which is a huge accomplishment considering where they were five years ago. Kudos to all for putting Bama at a status that is now recognized for much more than their football program.
