I’ve picked that number for today’s poll because there doesn’t seem to be any clear-cut answer. There are some other numbers that had at least one of the all-time greats wear it for the Crimson Tide ...

I concur. He played a very pivotal role in Coach Bryant’s legacy.

True.  His handling of the wishbone in the first game vs USC was amazing.  He was probably the smallest player on the field, but played like a champion.

Shealy is a lifelong resident of Dothan, Alabama. After graduating from high school in 1976, he played football on a scholarship for the legendary coach Paul "Bear" Bryant at the University of Alabama. Shealy was a wishbone quarterback for the Tide from 1977–1980. He was part of Alabama's 28 consecutive wins — the longest win streak in school history — from 1978–1980...

I'm going with Steadman Shealy over Terry Davis but its close. I grew up playing football with Steadman from grade school. He would have been even better without the knee injury. Terry was awesome in the 1972 Tennessee game to pull out the win.

For me it was a toss up between Davis and Shealy,

but I voted for Shealy.
