Ok its getting close to the first game of the year, I'm excited!, getting my plans together to cook out, have some neighbors over,

(let me give you a little background first, I am Military, Im from Fort Payne Alabama, My wife is from Wynne Arkansas, We recently got stationed near Navarre, fl on the gulf cost, moved here from Shreveport. I have been working on the house since we got he in June, new floors, painted all the walls, a bunch of work)

Ok now the wife hit me with, hey can we go to Arkansas Labor day to see my parents?
Really...now...? why now?

I cant say I dont want to go, because her parents dont watch football(I know thats a sin im my eyes too) but I really dont want to go that weekend, any other weekend (except when Bama plays Arky) would be fine.

ughh what would y'all do? Angry

Cheaper to keep her. Kiss

Yeah, I was afraid of that.
You can always plead the old 'Labor Day weekend traffic is a bear, let's just take off next Monday and have back to back 3 day weekends and take a nice leisurely drive up to visit my FAVORITE IN-LAWS !?       (it's worth a try?)

get sick Thursday night , sick as hell is what you say .
call in Friday , lay around all day , act like your freezing
shake from time to time , run to the bathroom and make heaving noises .
stay in the BR for 20 to 30 minutes at a time depending on TV programing
ask for soup and juice throughout the day and blankets
throw the blankets off on the floor and scream I'M BURNING UP !
don't dare take a shower until right before game time
you'll miss the friends and the cookout but heck , can't have everything

good luck and RTR !  enjoy the game

those 24 hour bugs can be a killer

This is an age-old problem: wife or football.

1. Life is short; choose football.
2. Life is long (longer if married); choose wife.
3. See FocusedFan's comment (I'm not proposing a crime). LOL

#1 works for me, especially since this is the HIGH TIDE era of Alabama football.

Show her this. If she still wants to go, she's a communist. Your conscience will be clear when you cut her loose.

I hate having to go to the airport if I'm not flying anywhere. Angry

Find a cousin, sibling, uncle, or some relative of hers that lives in the same town and go with him to the local sports bar. Make him drive. Tell her your just getting to know her family better.

Good advice.  And they often provide suitable, substitute wives at sports bars!
