ESPN's Joe Schad is reporting that Mathieu would like another shot at LSU.

According to ESPN, Mathieu would like to remain in class at LSU in 2012 while paying his own way in hopes of returning in 2013 if it can be worked out with the school. The ESPN report says the idea would have to be approved at many levels and that "it is being discussed." ...

I'm sure he would. It sounds like there were many more chances already given. Banging your head against the wall.

Maybe this kid finally got the message about life and knows he has to change. Plus, he knows LSU is where he needs to be and he can still play football in 2013 and even 2014, if necessary. The SEC gives him a huge amount of coverage for his skills.

This could be a good situation for all parties if it works out. A year without football is a pretty stiff punishment. If TM can get his life turned back around in a postive way let him back on the team next year. Forget about the Bama-LSU rivaly for a minute. This is a 20 year old kid struggling with a drug problem. I hope he gets himself clean and comes back strong.

I hope he gets it turned around.  It sounds like he has figured out that McNeese State is not going to give him the exposure he needs, plus his potential draft status will take a nose dive with drug issues.  But if he turns things around, then there's money to be made.  So, I'm not convinced it is a character change instead of a money thing, but whatever works.  I do hope this was the wake up call he needed.

Applause E-Cred kudos to you both. There really is more here than football. This is such a young life to be put in the slum already. Pray for him and let's hope can overcome this with Gods' help. RTR!

We joke about TM, but it would be good if he could get his life right.  The first thing he will have to do is get over himself about how important he is before he can tackle the other issues.

All joking aside, I think you are exactly right.

^^^THIS^^^

Sitting out a year and seeing that the team will go on just fine without him could be the cure for that.

A "20 yr old kid? I call BS! We have plenty of 20 yr olds getting their butts shot at around the world! He's got brains.he has just "chosen" to do things different and not abide by the rules.
And I'd like to know who's holding  a gun to his head?

Plenty of 20 yr olds would give their left one just to suit up and sit on the bench, and this dumb*** "choses" to brek the rules.

Sorry, a 20 yr old is NOT a kid..and don't start whining he is from a broken home, didn't have a Big Wheel when he was 4 yrs old, bla, bla. PLENTY of kids are from broken homes, etc. etc. and chose to live life according to the rules!

Yeah, ok, there is forgiveness...but don't forget there are also "CONSEQUENCES!
